ttyl
Recently I just started reading ttyl by Lauren Myracle. It is about three tenth grade girls, Angela, Maddie and Zoe. They are all trying to survive high school together. They are a trio of girls that hope to never break apart.
One thing about this book that I don't especially like is the way it is written. It is all dialogue and they are 'chatting' online throughout the whole book. The reason why I don't like it is because it is hard to imagine where they go to school and what the characters look like, basically details. The good thing about the way Lauren wrote the book was how each character has their own special font or color. One girl has blue font, the other is bold and one is normal. The different fonts do help we know who is speaking.
I love reading about a group of girls because I like chick flicks. To em, the story also seems extremely realistic. I find it annoying when you read a story and it doesn't seem realistic. It makes it seem like it is fake. When a book has a scenario that might happen in real life it is easier to believe what is going on and you learn from experience what you should do if you ever had that problem.
I really love the author Lauren Myracle. I have read Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen and hopefully Thirteen Plus One soon. She has written very many books and I would like to read more of them. Recently she came to my school and even signed one of my books. Lauren is a really awesome person and is full of enthusiasm. She seems like a really nice person and I can't wait to read more of her books.

You're right, books should have realistic scenarios because you can learn from them instead of learning the hard way. I actually just posted something regarding that.
ReplyDeleteLauren visited our class while she was here, and she was a good speaker. I loved hearing her stories about how people have tried to get her books banned. Lauren's sister, Susan Rebecca White, taught with me several years ago. Susan is also a published author. Her first book is called Bound South, and it's a good book. She just recently published another one called A Soft Place to Land, which is on my summer reading list.
